Théun, what is the point in fighting a battle we already know we can never win?

I will share with you, my friend.

When I was in education I had to work with MANY delinquent children, delinquent teachers, and worse still, delinquent parents! LOL! Then there were also the WAYWARD School Principals who were far more interested in having sex with the pupils than in educating them!

I fought MANY battles in my time within education, my friend, a GREAT many! Did I win? LOL! No! Mostly I lost, because I was always just a LONE voice in that wilderness termed government and bureaucracy, not even to mention trying to survive the PAPER threat! LOL! Yes, the sheer AMOUNT of paper-work that had to be done merely to ask permission to sneeze, was FORMIDABLE! And, of course, if you wish to duck and dive, an ENDLESS paper trail is a VERY good place in which to get lost! No, I never won any battles at their face value, for, as I said, most of them became lost somewhere along the endless paper trail!

BUT……at the end of the day I DID make a difference within education! If nothing else, I made a great MANY friends amongst teachers, school principals and pupils alike, and I left the Department of Education knowing that although the Department still stank to high heaven, I had nonetheless TOUCHED the lives of MANY! But I will NEVER know to what extent, nor will I ever know the OUTCOME of having touched their lives!

So what am I saying? I am saying that it is NOT so much about what is SAID, my friend. Instead it is about what is DONE, that makes the difference! Nor does it matter how many battles we win or lose; all that matters is that we fight impeccably!
